Life at the Beach

Its the last day of our week-long vacation at the beaches of the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Tomorrow, we’ll begin the trip back to Maryland and resume normal life; back to our home and our jobs while leaving behind the cool breeze and the salty air of life on the beach. We’ve been so fortunate to have had beautiful weather all week. It has been uncomfortably hot and the waters have been cool and refreshing and with rarely a cloud in the sky, the portable sun  shelter has proven itself to be an invaluable asset on the beach.  (more…)

Baby party

Dear friends, thank you all for coming to Baby Tran’s first party. He had a great time inside Nicola’s belly and enjoyed all your wishes, love, and hugs. Everything is super prepared for him now and he might turn out a gear head like his dad.

The food and entertainment provided by the three aunties was especially enjoyed by the little guy. Thanks so much for organizing all of this, Fati, Emily, and Debbie!

Updating Layout

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be overhauling the look of our site. We have been experimenting with different themes but never quite liked any of them 100%. So starting now, the site is going to be a work in progress and until we get the final look ironed out, the site might look plain or even broken until all of the puzzle pieces are properly lined up and polished. Until then, we’ll still be posting stuff so we hope you keep coming back!

Lincoln

We spent the good part of the day today at the National Arboretum in DC . About a 40 minute drive from home, the Arboretum is an outdoor living museum of of flowers, trees, shrubs…a botanical museum. Right outside the city center, it is a very peaceful oasis that surrounds you with nature and wildlife. You can walk for hours and see a million different things.

It was our first time visiting the park and we took full advantage of the nice weather by bringing our bicycles which made seeing the huge arboretum grounds much more pleasant. There are 9 miles of trails and garden walks that surround you in vibrant flora, sweet fragrances, and the song of birds in the air. It’s not surprising that today won’t be our last time visiting and we just can’t wait to share this nice piece of nature with all of our friends and visitors.

To learn more about the arboretum and to see other pictures and the map of the place, check out its website: http://www.usna.usda.gov/

Special thanks to Nicola for putting the video together :)
