Days 6-9: Work Exhaustion
Its been awhile since I last posted a blog, thats because I’ve been super super busy in the last 4 days. As of my last blog post, I’ve worked overtime just about everyday from 8am till about 8pm. Nothing much to report work-wise except that I’m ready to go HOME! (more…)

Day 3 and 4 – Uneventful
Nothing to report friends. Just two days of work and two nights of sleep. The only thing extra was eating meals. But it was a good chance to reflect on what is cool and what is not about Vietnam. One thing that is definately cool is the over abundance of scooters and vespas. Here, two wheeled vehicles totally overwhelm four wheel vehicles to the point where it sucks to drive. It takes about twice as long to reach closeby destinations here in Vietnam if you travel by car (which we do since we have a driver) and therefore tasks are much more efficient on Vespas. The only catch is that there is no air conditioning on a vespa.

Day 2 – Reacquaintence
Today began with a three dollar breakfast buffet that included all kinds of good foods like fried egg, various meats, soups, fresh coffee and fresh pressed soy milk. All for three bucks! I really think eating is the best part about this country, although it really requires a leap of faith, so many places to eat are literally holes in the wall with a vinyl sign in the front. (more…)

Day 1 – Arrival
After what seemed like an endless airplane trip, I have finally landed in Ho Chi Minh City! The flight began out of Dulles International Airport with a three hour layover at Narita, Japan — overall flight time 20 hours. For the most part the flight was generally what you want out of a flight — uneventful. (more…)

End Of The Student Era
As of September 25, 2008 I am officially no longer a student. I’ve been living inside this warm and comfortable bubble of student status for the majority of my life and now all of the sudden I’m a brand new member of this so called Real Life. It’s a strange trade-off when you think about it. Here, I take a moment to list the pros and cons of each status: (more…)

My sort of new phone [updated]
Hey everyone, this is my first blog post written and posted from my iPhone. In case you’re wondering about the subject line, I just upgraded and pwned my iPhone to the new 2.1 software. This allows me to install applications from the itunes app store, one of which is this neat wordpress app. So there you have it. I can even post a pic from my phone and attach it to the post. My only gripe about this application is that there’s no way to add captions to the pics. Oh well can’t have it all I guess. I really don’t have an excuse for not updating our site.
Update: Sept 29, 08
After having a few weeks to use 2.1 I have to say that I enjoyed my 1.1.4Â experience much better. 2.1 feels sluggish and the app store only sucks money from my wallet for semi-useful toys. Overall, the best feature in my opinion is the apple remote. Period. Here’s a list of things I’d like to see fixed:
- Mail Search – I get like 10 mails a day and if I need to check something I got last week.. forget about it.
- Random safari crashes
- Sometimes the keyboard is laggy in safari
- Not a fix but lets get the final release for VLC for iPhone public
- Application / Menu load time is noticeably sluggish, lets speed that up
- Cut n Paste would be nice
- Why do i need mobileme to do sync over the air?

Plastic Manufacturing Plant
Was browsing through my blogs and found an interesting article I thought you all might be interested in: Massachusetts based bioplastics company Metabolix has devised what it hopes is an efficient way to manufacture its product: growing grass, harvesting plastic. So basically that means that they have figured out a way to grow bioplastics in grass. Hopefully this will bring down the price of current bio-plastics and find its way into every supermarket where it will replace traditional plastic bags. My only hope that bio-plastic decomposes.
